Apple with Chinese environmental groups, will audit a supplier factory in China for the first time, IDG News Service reported on Monday. Institute for Public Affairs and the Environment, based in Beijing announced that Apple has agreed to conduct joint audits, which will be conducted at the end of the month. Apple will hire an independent auditing firm to investigate the pollution created by one of the circuit board manufacturer Apple.
This audit will be a pilot project intended for a single plant, but environmental groups hope that Apple will agree to do more together in future audits. '' We think this is a very positive step made by Apple,'' said Wang Jing Jing, deputy director of the IPE. '' We hope this will not only be a pilot project, but further examination is open to continue''. The results of the audit will be available online later this year.
